The Directorate General of Taxation has appointed 12 companies that meet criteria as Value Added Tax (VAT) collectors for digital goods and services sold to customers in Indonesia, starting from 1 October 2020. The companies are LinkedIn Singapore Pte. Ltd., McAfee Ireland Ltd., Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd., Mojang AB, Novi Digital Entertainment Pte. Ltd., PCCW Vuclip (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., Skype Communications SARL, Twitter Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., Twitter International Company, Zoom Video Communications, PT Jingdong Indonesia Pertama, and PT Shopee International Indonesia. The Director of Public Counselling, Services and Relations of the Directorate General of Taxation, Hestu Yoga Saksama, explained that the amount of VAT that must be paid by customers is 10% of the price before tax, and must be included in the receipt or invoice issued by the seller as VAT collection slips. Meanwhile, specifically for marketplace that is domestic taxpayer appointed as collector, VAT collection is only carried out on sales of digital goods and services by overseas sellers who sell through the marketplace.
