Plan To Make Two New Omnibus Laws

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, said that the government has prepared two omnibus laws related to creation of employment and development of micro, small and middle-scale enterprises (MSME). Joko Widodo added that these laws will fix the sectors of employment creation and development of UMKM that have not been maximized because of convoluted regulations in the two sectors.

In response to the plan, a member of the Regional House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia from the Special Capital City Region of Jakarta Province, Jimly Asshiddiqie, said that the omnibus law scheme revealed by President Joko Widodo is very appropriate considering the need for policies that can improve the livelihood of Indonesian people both in terms of economy and their social life. It is also in line with what has been disclosed by the Deputy of Political Affairs, Law, Defense and Security of the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency, Slamet Soedarsono, who said that the two laws will be made to improve public welfare because they directly affect people’s life and their effects on economic development are quite significant.
