The House of Representatives (DPR) has passed the Draft Law (Bill) on Creative Economy on 26 September 2019. In addition to the Bill, DPR also passed the Bill on Management of National Resources for State Defense on the same day.

The Vice Chairperson of Commission X of DPR, Abdul Fikri Faqih, said that the Bill on Creative Economy is not intended to limit but to facilitate creative economy business players. Abdul Fikri Faqih added that this Bill gives several benefits for creative economy business players like providing the regulation of creative economy from the upstream to the downstream and giving incentives to creative economy business players both in fiscal and non-fiscal forms. Moreover, this Bill also stipulates the provision on capacity building of creative economy business players, establishment of a public service agency by the government to help the financial management and development of creative economy, protection and regulation of intellectual properties so that they can be made as a guarantee to obtain a financial or capital access from the banking sector, and regulation of creative economy infrastructures from regional governments or the central government.
