Based on records of the Directorate General of Taxation, tax restitution in the period of January-March 2019 reached Rp50.65 trillion. If compared to the same period last year, tax restitution underwent an increase by 47.83%, constituting the highest increase in tax restitution since the government issued Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 39/PMK.03/2018 regarding Procedure for Preliminary Refund of Tax Overpayment.
However, the high increase in tax restitution affected tax revenues. Until March 2019, tax revenues only reached Rp249 trillion with a year-over-year increase by 1.8%. Although still undergoing an increase, the increase in tax revenues is much lower than the increase in the same period last year reaching 9.9%.
According to the Director General of Taxation, Robert Pakpahan, although tax restitution in the first quarter of 2019 underwent a significant increase, such increase will slow down after the period. By the slowdown in increase tax restitution along the remaining 2019, net tax revenues will improve.
